WHAT IS SCIENTIFIC COMMUNICATION?
Scientific communication is undergoing rapid change under the influence of the diversification of the environments in which information is produced and developments in information technologies. While the environments in which information is recorded and made accessible are increasingly shifting from print to electronic formats, the research and communication environments of scientists are being moved into virtual spaces through the opportunities provided by technology. Digital environments need to be given greater consideration in the production, access, organization, and presentation of scientific outputs to users. All these changes and developments are transforming the structure of scientific communication, its conventional elements of communication, and the roles involved, while also greatly affecting the responsibilities and understanding of duties of university research libraries, which have undertaken a fundamental and important role in scientific communication from its beginnings to the present day.
LIBRARY ACTIVITIES WITHIN THE SCOPE OF SCIENTIFIC COMMUNICATION
Science communicators develop strategies and methods to encourage informed decisions about scientific issues. Through effective communication techniques, experts, such as scientists, can inform non experts, such as members of the public, about scientific topics and increase scientific awareness and understanding in society. An informed public has the capacity to think about, absorb, and make sound decisions regarding science in a democratic society. On the other hand, scientists can also communicate their ideas and findings to one another more effectively.

The purpose of ClinicalTrials.gov is to provide the public, researchers, and healthcare professionals with information about clinical research studies. The U.S. government does not review or approve the safety and scientific validity of all studies listed on this website.
ClinicalTrials.gov:
- Provides and updates information about studies from trusted sponsors or researchers.
- Lists up to date information about clinical research studies and results, and new studies are added almost every day.
- Includes studies conducted in all 50 states and in more than 200 countries.
- Supports laws, regulations, and policies that require sponsors and researchers to share information about clinical trials with the public, including results.
