Professional Ethical Principles of the Turkish Librarians' Association
1. They defend the right of access to information stated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, other international agreements, and the TKD Declaration on Freedom of Thought for all members of society, and they strive to fulfill its requirements.
2. They oppose censorship directed at intellectual and artistic works and defend freedom of thought.
3. They treat users equally without any discrimination.
4. They make active efforts in the development and implementation of professional policies and standards.
5. By providing accurate and sufficient information in a timely manner, they carry out their duties in a way that adds value to the profession.
6. They respect copyright and protect these rights.
7. They guarantee the confidentiality of users’ research, the information resources they borrow and or use, and they do not share their personal information with anyone except where legally required.
8. They do not engage in statements or conduct based on unfair defamation or not supported by objective evidence that would damage the reputation of professionals, the profession as a whole, or an information center.
9. They do not seek personal gain while fulfilling their professional duties and responsibilities.
10. They pay attention to professional cooperation and solidarity.
11. They act with awareness regarding their professional development, continually improve themselves in this respect, and reflect this in their services.
12. They act fairly and honestly in their professional and managerial relationships.

IFLA Code of Ethics for Librarians and Other Information Workers
The Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct consists of a set of ethical recommendations prepared to guide librarians and other information workers. These recommendations were also prepared to help libraries and information associations develop their own codes or review their existing ones.
